Oxford is home to the father of modern bee keeping: Rev. Lorenzo Lorraine Langstroth (25 December 1810 – October 6, 1895), apiarist, clergyman and teacher, is considered the "Father of American Beekeeping." Lived and worked in Oxford Ohio. L. L. Langstroth purchased his home in 1859, and lived there for the next 28 years, conducting research and breeding honey bees.
