There are so many “fun facts” about Terre Haute that it was hard to choose one. For example, the world-famous Coca-Cola bottle was created here in 1915. The city was the birthplace of Paul Dresser, composer of Indiana’s State Song, “On the Banks of the Wabash, Faraway.” It’s where Terre Haute native Max Ehrmann wrote one of the world’s most-recognized and best-loved poems, “Desiderata.” And it’s the home of the first pay toilet!
